The hotel is located in Ward 5 of Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality in Solukhumbu district. According to local police, the fire started at around 11 a.m. and was brought under control after approximately two hours.
Police initially suspected that a cooking gas cylinder-related incident may have triggered the fire. Authorities said the exact cause would be determined through further investigation.
Reports from Kantipur said a hotel building with accommodation capacity for around 50 people was damaged, while the main hotel structure remained safe. No human casualties were reported.
Video footage shared by travel creator Callan Bowl shows the response by people in the village. Trekkers, guides and local residents can be seen helping move belongings away from the burning building and working together to contain the flames. The footage also captures the difficult conditions caused by the snowfall.
Dingboche is an important acclimatisation stop for trekkers heading toward Everest Base Camp. Heavy snowfall in the area had restricted movement, leaving some visitors unable to continue uphill or descend safely.
The incident highlights the challenges faced by remote Himalayan communities during severe winter weather, when access, emergency response and firefighting resources can be limited.
The investigation into the cause of the fire and assessment of the property damage remain important next steps.
